Casa Rosa is a ministry of EmpowerHer Guatemala, a transition house designed to provide young women with the holistic support they need to transition into adulthood with confidence, independence, and spiritual strength.

The Meaning Behind Our Name, “Casa Rosa”

The name Casa Rosa carries both personal and symbolic meaning. It was born from the founder’s original call to accompany young women in Guatemala and from her devotion to Thérèse of Lisieux, often known as “The Little Flower.” Along this journey, the unexpected appearance of roses has been received as gentle signs of encouragement and reminders of God’s presence. Inspired by her spirituality, which teaches that transformation often unfolds through small acts of love, trust, and faithfulness. Casa Rosa believes that when young women are given a place of belonging, encouragement, and guidance, even the smallest steps of growth can lead to a life that fully blossoms.

The rose itself holds rich symbolism. Its petals reflect the inherent dignity, beauty, and worth of every young woman. At the same time, its thorns remind us that strength is often formed through life’s challenges. Like the rose, the young women who come to Casa Rosa carry both tenderness and resilience. Their stories may include hardship, but they also reveal courage, perseverance, and a deep capacity to grow.

Just as each rose blooms in its own way, every young woman carries her own gifts, dreams, and story. Casa Rosa seeks to nurture that unfolding, creating space where young women can discover their strengths, grow in confidence, and begin to imagine new possibilities for their future.

More than a program, Casa Rosa is a home, where young women are accompanied during an important transition in their lives. Within this community, they are supported through mentorship, formation, and sisterhood as they grow in responsibility, independence, and hope. We believe that when young women are given the opportunity to flourish, their lives, and the communities around them can be transformed.

Why Casa Rosa?

In many rural communities across Guatemala, access to educational opportunity requires young women to leave their homes and attend residential schools. These schools provide an important foundation for learning and personal growth. However, after graduation many young women face a difficult transition. Without family support, financial resources, or clear pathways forward, they often encounter significant barriers in pursuing further education, meaningful work, and independent living.

Despite these challenges, the young women who join Casa Rosa carry extraordinary resilience, faith, and potential. What they often lack is not ability, but support, accompaniment, and opportunity. Casa Rosa exists to walk alongside them during this critical moment. Through a supportive community, mentorship, life-skills formation, and access to continued education or vocational opportunities, young women are given the space and guidance needed to step confidently into adulthood.

In a context where early marriage, adolescent pregnancy, forced migration, and economic hardship can limit possibilities, Casa Rosa offers a place accompaniment, where each young woman can discern her path and build a stable and hopeful future. When young women are supported during this transition, the impact extends far beyond one life. They become leaders, mentors, and agents of hope within their families and communities. Casa Rosa believes that when young women are given the opportunity to flourish, entire communities are transformed.
